HORSE CLASSES AT SHOWS

SIZE OF LADIES' HACKS. A special meeting of the committeo of the A. and P. Association was held on Saturday ovoning to consider the question of the limitations imposed at last meeting on the sizo of horses to be shown in the ladies' hack class, reports the Timaru "Herald." Correspondence was read from Mr. Cccil Wright, late of Clayton Station, and Mr. L. P. Robinson, with roferenco to tho decision at last meeting to restrict the height of entries in ladies' hacks to 15.2 hands. It was urged that such a stop would have tile effect of spoiling one of tho best and strongest classes in the show. No other society imposed such a limitation, and it was hoped that the old order of things would be reverted to in the interests of the show. Messrs. Macdonald and Munro, who had moved the motion at the previous meeting, limiting 'he size of ladies' , hacks, stated that their sole purpose in so doing was to endeavour to improve tho class. As class stewards at tho last show they noted that all sorts and sizes of horses were entered. It was a case of "johnny-all-sorts" and was not creditablo to the show, besidps being a. difficult class to judge. Perhaps in the endeavour to rush tho revision of the schedule through in one night this matter and some others lmd not received the consideration that it merited, and the matter had been carried hastily. There were other suggestions that could be made with a view to improving the class. In the meantime. they were willing to see tho motion placing limitation on the sizo of ladies' hacks rescinded, and tho old order reinstated. They moved in that direction. Tho position was then thoroughly discussed, and finally the motion of the provious meeting was unanimously rc-; scinded, and the class left as formerly, without restriction.
