INDUSTRIAL PATRIOTIC EXHIBITION

A meeting of tho Committee of tho British Coinmorcial and Industrial Patriotic Exhibition, to be hold in the Town Hall during February next, was held yesterday. Mr. L. A. Edwards ocoupied the chair, and othors present were: J. F. Atkins, F. J. Evans, E. Bull, E. T. Doddrell, H. H. Eeod, L. T. Watkins, T. Ballinger, and A. Petlierick (secretary). It was decided: That intending oxliibitors who cannot attend the auction on Wednesday next arrange for a representative to attend. Any member of the committee is prepared to act as a representative if necessary. Auction conditions were decided upon, and include: (1) Every stall for_ which there is competition, or for which.no application has been received by tho,]sth inst., shall be auctioned, and will bo sold to tho highest bidder above tho upset price. (2J Tho purchaser of one stall shall have the right to purchase an adjoining stall if not applied for, at a price above tho upset price on that stall equal to a propor-' tion of increaso paid on the first stall, if such first stall has to he auctioned. (3) Stalls applied for by more than ono- applicant up to the Isth shall he first auctioned, only tho particular applicants being entitled to bid. Tlio remainder of the stalls shall then bo put to auction in order of value. (<1) A purchaser may dispose of part of his stall at a price not exceeding tho original price paid per squaro foot, provided such sale is sanctioned by the joint managers. (5) A deposit of £3 must bo paid on or before the fall of tho hammer, and tho balance paid on or before' Decembor 1 next, after wldch date the stall and deposit shall revert to tho committee if tho purchase has not been completed.

Authority was given to open a banking account in tho name of the exhibition, cheques to be signed by either of the joint managers (Messrs. Edwards and Atkins), and counter-signed by the secretary. Mr.- F. J. Evans reported that as a result of an. interview by Mr. C. M. Luke and himself with Mr. w! R. Morris, Secretary of the Post and Telegraph; Department, he -was afraid that their request for an advertising device in the. postage cancolling machine would not be granted. In accordance with Mr. Morris's request, a letter had been sent following the''interview, and a reply is now awaited. Messrs. Luko and Evans were authorised to act upon any reply received.
