Acceptances for the Wanganui Jockey Club's Spring Meeting close to-night at 9.30 o'clock. Mr. 0. J. D'Ath, secretary of the Otaki Maori Racing Club, will receive acceptances for the Spring Meeting to bo held next week up till 8.80 o'clock to-night. Entries for all events at the Masterton Racing Club's Spring Meeting close onFriday next at 10 p.m Nominations for tlio' Hawke's Bay Hunt Club meeting and for the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's Spring Meeting close on Wednesday night. Mr. W. J. Stratton is secretary to both clubs. The Spring Meeting of the Wanganui Jockey Club will bo held on Thursday and Saturday of this week. (The Guineas will bo the principal event on the opening day.' The Ascot Thousand will bo run to-day. The New Zealand-owned Margarita is amongst the acceptors. The victory of Glissando in tho Avondale Guineas suggests that tho three-year-olds in Auckland are a very poor lot tl.is year. The Gluten filly had a. win in a hack race at both the Marton and Rongi-. tilcei Hunt Club meetings, but could not fill a place at either gathering. Now that ho has been sharpened up by a couple of races—a valuable tonie for a young stallion in tho spring—Eligible is entitled to consideration when the Wanganui Guineas field is being summed up. At Wanganui on Friday Bimeter alone ran 5 furlongs in lmin. 2sec. Xanthos and Nones ran a mile together, the last six furlongs taking lmin. lGsec. Tho filly won easily. Mr. "Wiri Tokena," owner of Rinaldo, was in Wellington last week. Ho informed the writer that liis horse would not fulfil his engagement in tho Spring Handicap at tho Wanganui meeting. The success.of .Wallace Isinglass inilie Rosehill Guineas will strengthen tho idea that he will win the A.J.C. Derby. Bon duly won the Joffro Handicap, five furlongs, at tho Otago Hunt Club meeting. The good price paid by the Boniforin gelding was a pleasant surprise for his supporters.
