• WHEY BUTTER TO BE BRANDED FOR EXPORT. The Agricultural Department has decreed that whey / butter, exported from Kew Zealand must bo branded, as such. : . Hitherto the export; of this product has jy-' been, permitted with a stamp different, from that, of ordinary 7 'butter, but- not •bearing the inscription "whey butter.,''.' : The .undertaking of the; v Department: (. ; was that export might continue so long > as the quality was kept up: V;Tbe.Miu'-f ! ■- ister for Agriculture stated' in ; tho House that the quality had not been .'kept up, and now, in order to prevent ' the-sale of this product from spoiling; ■the market for New Zealand butter, the Department; would insist that all wliey butter would be branded . "whey ' . butter." .. .Hopoiiited out that last year. there wereexported, froiti Now Zealand : 242 tons of whey butter, 19,840 tons r of creamery butter, 39 tons of dairy butter, and 9G tons of milled butter.
