Tho report of tho mine superintendent of tho Ttoss Goldfiolds Reconstructed on the work at the mine for the week ended August 20 is as foHows:—At the -face of No. 2 east drive a small prospecting drive has been advanced Bft. cast so as to determine tho extent of wio clay formation which had begun to angle across the face. From the same face No. 13 north-east drive has advanced 21ft., tho wash for tho last 10ft. being pa.ya.ble for a depth of sft. from the back. No. 11 north drive has advanced Bft., and No. ,9 north' drive 15ft., both' drives being in. pay wash. In, these three north 'drives some 3ft. of defined waste terrace bottom was carried along at the commencement in order to keep down to the pa-y wash when it dips away further ahead.
