Messrs. D«.lgety and Company say it is, fortunately, particularly bright. The' war lies led to tho most unprecedented demands on the world's wool supplies, which factor, coupled with .the revived trade, has forced prices for -all but the most inferior wools., to an extremely payable level. The continuance of the war throughout the approaching winter in: the Northern Hemisphere .must lead to further expansion in the demand for army clothing, and an incrcaso of the . prceent high level •of wool values. There arc practically no large stocks of wool in any, country, .willi the exception.of Great Britain, but 'on . the contrary, in most cases, the most sjiarse supplies. Added to this'is the certainty of a very creat falling off in 'the production of wool in the Commonwealth this season, which cannot fail to exercise a considerable effect on, the market..'lt will thus be seen that matters in connection with wool values are favourable to producing . interests, which should experience particularly satisfactory returns for the reduced clip that will be marketed in the forthcoming season. ' CUSTOMS FOB THE MONTH. Customs duty collected at the port of Wellington for tho month of Angust amounted to £89,102 30. 3i,;as compared with .£110,524 4s. for tho corresponding month last. year.
