HIGH PRICES FOE BUTTER-BUT. (By TeleeraDb.—Press Association.) ■ Wharigarei, August 30. In view of the Budget, proposals, a shareholder of tlio Whangarei Dairy Company at tho annualmeetingmoved: "That last year's resolution yotiii" jd! per lb. oil butter-fat as a contriEuioa to tho war fund bo rescinded." It was declared that contributing to t'lia war fuild meant reducing the taxation on tho men having much mora money than dairymen, viz., the biggest land and property owners in the Dominion. No objection was made to tho directors having t'lie power to donate to tlio local sick and wounded fund. Tbe chairman (SLr. Henry Wakelin) declared that tlio high priccs for butter'fat wcro like blood money. They knew what was the cause of the high prices to tbeir sorrow. Ho hoped tlio shareholders would show tlioir gratitude. ■ The meeting decided to empower the directors to make donations as they deemed advisable, but not to the war fund, the limit of the donations to be £180, equal to what Jd. per lb. oil .butter-fat induced lap.fcjiea.Boni'
