moqen.l For the Patriotic Fundjs. The dance which was lield in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last evening, in aid of the Mayor's Patriotic Fluid, was a successful aiid brightly-arranged function, and -will no doubt add in a very satisfactory manner to funds uliich everyone would like, to see grow greater every day. The decorations of the Chamber were very bright and pretty, and the committee was greatly indebted to ■ Mr. Doddrell for his .successful results in that direction. Festoons of roses, alternating with large Japanese umbrellas, together with drapings. of flags and pennants, transformed the vestibule and made it a. very pleasant resting-place. . Inside the Chamber the pillars were draped with, moro flags, while at various points around, the Walls were placed the different ensigns .of tlie Allies, and' shields bearing patriotic devices and appeals. The stage, with its clumps and clusters of arum lillies, palms, and quantities* of narcissi, was particularly ornamental, and 'it had also been carpeted and made a comfortable place for tliose looking on at tlio dancers. Excellent music was supplied by Mr. Cowley's orchestra. The further end of the corridor had been turned into a supper-room, tlio arrangements, being , in the lands of; Mrs. Oscar Johnston, who- as usual produced results: that were entirely satisfactory. The long tables had been very prettily arranged with bowls and vases of palo yellow and white narcissi .and with snowflakes. _ The committee comprised Miss Wittish, Miss Levi, Miss .Ward, Miss K. Gordon, Miss P. Gordon (lion. ' joint secretary), Miss Madeley, Miss Shield, Miss 0. Thompson, Miss Hanbroe, Messrs. Mageo (joint secretary),. The chaperones present were:—Lady Ward, the« Mayoress (Mrs. J. P. Luke),' Mrs. F. M: B. Fisher, and Mrs. Robinson.
