This forest i>s a vast military camp. A portion • of it had been converted into a veritablo town, with barracks, full of troops and munition depots. ■The camps were lit by electricity, but when our aeroplanes wero sighted tho lights were extinguished, and the Ger- : man anti-aircraft guns were used. Their fire' was' ineffectual, tho moonlight rendering the enemy's sc-afchlights ■ useless. Many of,our aeroplanes mada several journeys to and fro to replenish their ~ supplies of explosives \ of which • four tons were thrown oh the barrack? and depots.
