MRS PERCY DEARMER
DEATH ON HOSPITAL SERVICE IN SERBIA. The news of the death of Mrs. Dearmer, the wife of tlic, Eev.. Dr. Percy Dearmer, vicar of St. Mary, Primrose Ilill, ' Trill .be received with great regret by a very largo circle of literary, artistic, and "dramatic people. Mrs. Deamer, who was attached to .the Stobart Hospital Mission, died at ICragujeratz (Serbia) of enteric, from iv'hich alie had been suffering for a fortnight. _ Bom in 187*2, and married to Dr. Dearmer in 1892, Mrs. Dearmer was in turn an artist, a writer, a dramatist, and a cinematograph film producer, and in every mode of solf-expression she made her mark in an original and interesting way. She contributed many illustrations, some of them in colour, to magazines ; wrote the "Roundabout Rhymes," the "Book of Penny Toys," the ."Noah's Ark Geography" (all three written and illustrated in colour), "The Noisy Years," "The Oranguz,' "A Comedy of Tears," 'and other works. One of her beat-known novels was "The Difficult Way," which-she'adapted-'for the stage under the title of "Nan Pilgrim," and which w : as produced for a series of matinees at the Court Theatro in 1909. A couple of mystery plays, "The Playmate" and "The Soul of the World," were among her very varied' works for''tlio'stage. ' About the beginning of last year Mrs. Dearmer : was largely instrumental ill founding tho Children's Theatre, to which'her own contribution was- the charming . "Cockyolly Bird." This proved so successful that it was revived last winter with "Brer Rabbit and Mr. Fox," .another play for children. Two of the sons of Dr. and Mrs. Dearmer are now on','active ..service.— "Westminster Gazette." '.'
