MEETING OF OLD BOYS. •. For a Jong time past'; it has ' been deemed a great pity that members should be practically lost to :the ■ Listitute on reaching the age limit, namely, 18 years) and .to surmount this great drawback a meeting of the old boys was held on Thursday, with tho result that an .Old Boys' Association -has now been formed. The newly-formed club is expected to prove a great boon to old members. One of the large rooms in the building now being erected in Tasman Street, 011 behalf .ot the Boj6' Institute, has been set aside as a club and reading room for their entire use and con-venience-at all times, which means that members on attaining the age limit will still-be able: to keep in touch with their friends 6f boyhood days. , The following officers and committee were, elected: —Hon. president, Mr. G. A. Troup; lion, .vice-presidents,-Messrs.-L. Watkins, C. K. Dick, A. East, D. Hoivith, and R! Pearson; treasurer, Mr. E. Guise; secretary, Mr. J. D. Howith; committee, Messrs. B. Mabin, A. Mabin, T. E. Johnston, V. Cole, Rash. Already' four old Institute boys— Messrs. Geo. Weston, Geo. Bruce, Whitburn, and Burgess—have laid down their lives for their countryi The following are now serving, with the -colours: — Messrs. W. J. Hardliam, V.C., J. Keen, B. Martin, W. Batchelor, A. S. Crowther, R. Ferguson, J. R. Borthwick, Maurice Pointon, G. Hill, R. Dawe, C. Hamilton,' C. K. Dick, S. Morgan, F. Collie, J. Atkinson, W. Jennings, S. Cole, J. Forsyth, C. Geary, J. Heavey, W. Wighton, G. Nation. _ Many more old members aTe no doubt in the, ranks, and great assistance would he rendered if their names were forwarded to Mr. F. Ross, director Boys' Institute.
