The Queen Carnival competition which lias been in progress-, for about . three months, with tho object of raising money for the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, closed to-night in the presence of a large crowd in the Kensington Drill Hall. The results are incomplete, but at 11.45 p.m. the amount in hand Was £125,998, to which has to be added about £500; in addition, there .ia £15,381 from the Patriotic Association in the hands of the Town Clerk, and the amount received for the Queen Fund has to be added to from other sources of revenue, and these will be added within a few days. The first place in the Queon competition is secured by the Country Queen, Miss Smith, tlie North Otago Queen, Mrs. Nichols, is asured of 'second place, and! tho Sports Queen, Miss M'tean, third.
