: ♦ ". FURTHER VICTORIA CROSS . AWARDS. i By Telegraph—Press Association—Odpyri^ht London, August 24. Further awards of tho Victoria Cross are announced, as follow:— Captain Lanco G. Hawker, of the Royal Enginers and Flying Corps.—Flying alone ho' attacked three aeroplanes on July 25. . The first escaped, but Jig drove the second ;to the ground, with darnaee.. He then atacked the third at a height of-ten thousand feet, and drove it to earth' in our lines, the pilot and observer being killed. Captain Richard R. Willis, Sergeant Alfred Richards, 'and Private William Keneallv, of the Lancashire Fusiliers.— Selected by their comrades for the_most signal acts of bravery qnd devotion, to duty. On April 28, when landing at Cape Helles,' three companies were harried by hidden machine-guns, the survivors rushing up and cutting the wire entanglements linder a terrific fire. Corporal Issy Smith (who was amiingst the list published yesterday of Victoria Cross awards) is the first Jewish recipient of the honour. • Ho is now in hospital at Dublin, recovering from gaspoisoninc in, Flanders. Tho local Jews are lavish with attentions and presentations. '
