CROSS COUNTRY

BROOKLYN HARRIERS. On Saturday afternoon the Brooklyn Club bcid its run' from Thorndon Batlis, whence the AVellington Club also'held its run. The weather was good, and some twenty-five members and several vice-pre-sidents wero present. AA r . Coop, and Extoii were sent out with the\paper. Punctually at 3 p.m. the captain, F. Harlen, led tho pack out, with E. Ford as paccmaker. These were followed after a.few minutes' interval, by a scratch pack ofabout eight fast men, under tho deputycaptain, P. Harvey. The road was followed to the Kaiwarra wlien tho trail took to the hills following the gorge on the north side until near Ngaio. It then went north across some good country, with plenty of fences. Turning south it went by road through Ngaio to tho Gorge. Here the fast pack caught up and tho two went together. The trail led straight down tho hillside across the etream, and up to Wadestown. It then went via Goldio's Brae and the Esplanade back to the baths. Tho run-in, over about 300; yards, was won by C. AVillis, with Turner second, and Douglas close up third. Next Thursday the usual dance will bo held in tho club "room, and on the Saturday afternoon tho test raca will be hold at Miramar.

OLYMPIC HARRIERS. The Olympic Club held a very, enjoyable run from Karori on Saturday afternoon. A pack of about a dozen runners, under the direction of the captain, proceeded over some good cross-country towards tho top of Mafcara Hill, where a turn was mado for Karori Park, tho tram lino being followed for about a mile. Then tho paddocks and hills were again traversed. Altogether a distance of about six or seven miles was run, and the pace throughout tho whole distance _ was exceedingly fast. Tho usual handicap runin over tho last 4-i0 yards resulted in a very close and exciting finish, G. W. Dixon just snatching the victory from E. A. Shaw by about half a yard. W. Morris fougfht a good finish for third place with. J. Wilson, and just managed to succeed] by a foot. Members are reminded that next Saturday's run takes place from Cliff House, Island Bay, when members will bo the guests of Mr. A. Davies.
