SCHOOLS' CARNIVAL CONCERTS

Mr. W. T. Grundy, headmaster Clyde Quay School, presided at the meeting; of the Headmasters' Association held on Saturday morning. Thanks were accorded to the headmasters by the Queen Cftrnival Committee for tho co-operation of the headmasters of Wellington in connection with the part played by; children' in' tho recent Carnival. The chairman said tho balance to the good raised by the children's three entertainments was £380 2s. '2d., whereas the! estimated results were but £200. The chairman expressed the gratitude! of the association to Mr. Robert Parker, whom he desoribed as a "prince of teachers." It was a fine performance, of the children under Mr. Parker, for it took hut live weeks to prepare the children." He also Warmly complimented Mr. T. Costin Webb upon his complete organisation of the children's concerts. Mr. Foster had also given splendid assistance. Programmes, given by Turnbull, Hickson. and Gooder, realised some £24. Fruit, sweets, and flowers sold in flio hall brought in £55. The salo of. flags and badges realised £21. Tho musical' education of tho children; was improved and the timo had bv no" means been wasted. Soles of '■ tickets and admissions amounted to £274 4s. Gd. for two concerts. The net resulti ,o£ tho third concert was £30 3s. fid. Votes of thanks were passed to all who' had contributed to tho success of tho concerts.
