These were all approved, as also a similar scheme from tho Rangataua Town Board, relating to accrued thirds, April 1 to September 30, which was approved. G. B. Gibbons applied to . have Section 1, Biock VII, Hunua Survey District, declared a special district for loading purposes under Section 50 of tho Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913. Adjourned, it being suggested that tho applicant revive tho application previously, made for tho constitution of tho Pokatea Kokakomu special road district, as it was preferablo to dealing with sections singly. Rangitikei County Councl requested that two acrcs of Section. 20, Block IV, Ilau'tapu Survey District, be set aside as a gravel reserve. The rents totalled JCI9S 3s. 9d. Symo and Co. ,applicd for a license to

mill timber on Sections 21 and 23, Block 111, Makotuku S.D., and requested that term 1)0 fixed at four years from January 1, 1916. In addition to this, they wish to retn'in Section 23 for an extra year, ami Section 21 for two years extra, ami olfer a rent for extra period at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum on unimproved value.—lt was resolved to approve. Syme and Co. applied to have the right reserved to them to mill the timber on llaetihi 2a Block, Crown, laud, 200 acres. —It was resolved to decliuo this application for the present. Dwan Bros, applied for a. lease of P.H.R-. 106, Maliauri Township, and it was resolved to advise them that Mr. T. Bigar, who had previously applied for it, has liow taken it up. Joseph Farrow ronowed his application for portion only of Section 1, Block XIII, Tararua S.D., and it was resolved to decline to subdivide this land now.. R. AA T . Pope applied for a license to split silver pine and totara sleepers on area which he lias been granted a permit to occupy in Block XVI, Mariganui S.D.—lt was resolved to grant the license at current royalties, and on usual conditions, cutting to be under supervision of the ranger, and notice to be given before any timber is removed. It was resolved • to allow the late sublessees of Sections 6 and 10, Bloclc XII, and Section Block XVI, Huangarua S.D., to remain in occupation of these sections for the present, month,to month, from July 1, 1915, until further notice at the rents hitherto paid. ' Applications for a permit to occupy Section 15, Mataroa Suburbs, 3J- acres, were received from Messrs. T. Barron and A. T. May.—lt was resolved to grant the permit to T. Barron on the eamo terms as fixed for the permit issued to last caretaker. E. Johns applied for a permit to occupy Sections 9 and. 10, Block VIII, Pongaroa Township, area oa. 2r. Op.—lt was resolved to grant him the permit from year to year, at a rent of i£2 per annum, subject to the usual conditions.

H. G. Pliyn applied for a lease of the clear portion ol either Section 2 or '5, Bloclc VIII, Mangamui S.D.—lt was resolved to grant him a permit to Occupy the clear i portion of Section 2, east of AVaimarino Stream, for 5 years, under Section 130 of the Land Act, 1908, at a rent of 6d. per acre per annum, subject to the usual conditions. 1 E. V. Dixou, who holds a permit to occupy about 16 perches near Owhango from year to year, applied to convert it to a lease for six or seven years—lt was resolved to decline to alter his present tenure. "With reference to board's resolution of June 24, 1915, recommending the disposal, of. Section 143, Block XIV, Aohanga, 42 aeres ? a letter was received giving the Solicitor-General's opinion about the proposed method of disposal, and it was resolved to adhere to the resolution of June 24 in sd far as it related to the disposal of the land to Mr. AVagland, and to cut out all reference to disposition of the proceeds of the sale,

The Agricultural Department applied for tho use of Section 4, Bartholomew Settlement, 29a. 3r. 37p., for about a year for tho purpose of cultivating and cropping it. P. G. Miller also applied for a permit to graze it until such time as it is selected.—lt was resolvai to decline both applications, and to offer a grazing permit to John Howell, who made a prior application upon payment of a rent of 2s. per acre per month, and upon, condition that ho looked after the house and fences. W. Stevens applied for a permit to occupy all section in Block 11, Ninia Township. It was resolved to approve for a term of five years at a rental of 2s. Od. per acre, subject to tho usual conditions and to determination at any time. Permit to be subject to Sections 2, 3, and 6 being selected.at any time on renewable lease. A. R. Pannin, occupier of Section 15, Block X, Ohinewairua, applied for a permit to piimp ( water-from lagoon (on, opposite eido of road) to his section, which is not permanently watered. It was resolved to grant the permit at a. rental of 2s. per annum, subject to the safeguards mentioned by the ranger. C. H. Armstrong applied for a lease of Section 8, Block IV, Ngamatoa, 59 acres. It was resolved to offer publicly on renewable lease under Part IV of the Land Act, 1908, at the price of- ,£2 per acre. First-class land.

Laird Bros.' application for Section 6, Block VII, Whirinaki, was again considered, and it was. resolved to decline. J. Shcahou applied for a , permit to graze about, 10 acres of felled portion of Section 6, Block XII, Manganui, 'and it was resolved to grant it' from year to year under Section .130 of tho Land A.ct, 1908, at a rent of £1 10s. per annum subject to the usual conditions. No bush to be felled or destroyed, and cattle to be kept out of tho standing bush. P. Bartholomew applied for the right to mill timber on the 15-chain wide strip excluded from his present. licenso along tho Makaretu Stream, also to be allowed iV> pay royalty on the saw instead of a lump sum as fixed by his license. It was resolved to decline both applications. T. and E. Muffridgo applied for a leaso of the grassed portion of Section G, Block XII, Manganui S.D. for the purpaso of erecting buildings thereon. -It was resolved to decline, as thcro is a prior application for a grazing right, and it is not advisablo to allow lands held under temporary permits to bo encumbered by buildings. Section 118, Manunui V.S., having been cut into two lots, it was resolved to offer them for cash by public auction as under: Section 118, 2 roods .09 perches, upset price ,£IOO, weight for improvements, 10s.; Section 146, 2 roods .09 perches, upset price .£l5O, weight for improvements, <Bi3o. ■ : •

Adsett and Manning applied.for a mill sito of 24 acres out of an area of 450 acres in Block IV, Kaitieke S.D., now being allotted to them for milling purposes, and it was resolved to approve under Section 307 of the Land Act, 1908, for a term of, three years in such locality, and at such annual rent as the Commissioner may sea tit to fix. J. G. Martin applied for a permit to cut firewood on his grazing area in tho south-east corner of Scction 22, Block VI, Makotuku, and it was resolved to approve at the usual royalties, provided that he cuts only dead trees and does not interfero with the standing bush. Cutting to be under ranger's supervision.

The Commissioner submitted valuations recently recoived of lands which, have been held for long periods under temporary licenses:, and it was resolved to givo the under-mentioned occupiers notice of determination of their licenses, and to approve of their being granted new "temporary licenses from year to year, at tho annual rents mentioned below, subject to the usual conditions:— Section 53, Block A 7, Kopuaranga, 4 acres 3 roods 30 perches, R. It'was resolved to approve of the sublessee of Section 315, Block 111, Oroua S.D., being allowed to remain in occupation until August 17, 1915, at tho rent hitherto paid. AVith reference to board's resolution of June 24, 1915, postponing consideration of several applications for permit to occupy strip of Crown land between road and railway south of Owhango Station, it was resolved to determine permit granted to T. Irwin, and to issue another to him for a small area only on which his house is situated. It was further resolved to declino all other applications for permits to' occupy in this locality,' and to give Mr. Nay lor notice to remove his house. In terms of Scction 2 of tho Public Bodies Leasing Act, 1908, the following- resolution, which wa9 passed at the meeting,of tho board on Juno 24 last, came up for confirmation:-.

"Subdivision and Transfers—Section 19, Block VI, Mt. Cerberus, 200 acres, 1,. Mnlmanche to A. C. Herbert. Approved, at present average rental; costs of survey to bo borno- by applicant."—lt was resolved to confirm.' It was resolved; to declare the interest to Muruv Hunter in Section 1, Block

VI, Whirinaki, forfeited for non-com-pliance with the conditions of his lease as to improvements. G. D. Yearbury' applied for exemption from residence on Section 15, Block 111, Eangataua Township (1 rood) until he returns from the war.—Granted. With reference to a transfer of Sections 31 and 15, Block VII, Waipakuar, from the Public Trustee in the estate of Mima Smyth (deceased) to Tauginoa Tapa,' anil To Hanu Tapa, which was approved by the Board on March 25 last, application was made to add the name of Wiki Ngakura as a third transferee. It was resolved to accept the surrender of Mr. P. H. M'Kelvie of pastoral run No. 24, Blocks II and 111, Sandy (6360 acres) in order that an area of about 1600 acres may bo utilised by' the Crown in connection with experiments in reclamation of 6and dunes, and that His Excellency the Governor be recommended, in terms of Section 255 of the Land Act, 1908, to grant Mr. M'Kelvie a temporary license to occupy the remainder of tho run for a term of three years, tho rental to be at the 6amc rato as at present charged (sd. per acre per annum). Mrs. Mary Edmonds applied to- surrender Section 5, Bartholomew Settlement. —Accepted. H. E. Gosnell applied to surrender his lease of Education Reserve, Lot 7, Section 101, Block I, Otahoua (17 acres), as ho had left the district and lives at Waverley.—Accepted. > ■ _ It was resolved to determine Mr. P. Nicholson's present permit to occupy 1 acre of Crown land in Block VI, Huuua, as he has left tho district.

It was resolved to rescind the forfeiture of AVatkins Bros/ permit to occupy Section 38, Block VI, Humia. as the arrears of rent hava been paid. It was resolved to rescind the forfeiture of G. AV. Rummell's interest in Section 12, Block A'l, Mangaweka North Township, as tho arrears of rent have been paid. In pursuance of arrangements recently made, it was resolved to rescind Board's resolution of December 17, 1914, with regard to the disposal of timber on areas of 140 acres and 450 acres, south of Owhango Township and east of railway lino,'in Block IA r , ■ Kaitieko S.D., and to approve of the Prouso Lumber, Ltd., being granted a license to mill 'area of 149 acres at a royalty of 18s. 9d., anil of Adsett and Manning being granted a license to mill area of 450 acres at a royalty of J31269 17s. Strip 5 chains wide to be excluded from licenses along Whakapapa. River; tramway rights and right to set aside mill sites to be reserved. In consideration of surrender by Prouso Lumber, Ltd., of their milling option over Sections 1 and 6, Block V, Karioi 'S.D., and over 450 acres, Block IV, Kaitieke, and to allow credit for rebates to which tliev aro entitled on account of milling timber destroyed or.found inaccessible o» lands comprised in their present milling licenses it was further Tesolved to hold for their future use milling timber on such area west of railway line in Blocs IV Kaitieke R.D., as will produce a royalty of .£5290 12s. 2d., in tho terras of Commissioner's memoranda of July 20 and 28.
