MORTGACE EXTENSION,

Sir,-—I, with other colonists, was surprised to see in the Parliamentary nows that the Government were thinking of.making a retrogressive move to shelve or, withdraw a measure calculated to protect men and women whoso circumstances required them to mortgage their homes from, the grasp of moneylenders, who may endeavour to take advantage of this time of stress to foreclose on mortgages which are due during the war time. Sir, should the Government play into the hands of moneylenders, many electors will consider they are not the men to help those most in need of protection, and will regret having supported tho Reform Party. However, wo will watch tho movements of our Parliament and act accordingly.—l am, etc., PIONEER.
