Heavy fighting is reported around Mexico City, in which the Carranzistas were defeated. United States officers have arrested General Huerta and his lieutenant, Orozco. They have been detained at El I'aso, charged with using American backing to start a new revolution in Mexico. BARMAID MURDER CASE SENSATIONAL VERDICT. A sensational verdict was returned in the barmaid murder case,' Alica Mary Wheatley, aged twenty-two, being acquitted of shooting Annie Josephine Wootton, aged thirty, wife of Lieutenant Wootton, on March 23. Whaatley gave evidence because the lieutenant gave evidence against her, and she would no _ longer bo a shield for him. She admitted having possession of the revolver, but the lieutenant took it away from her. The Judge, in summing up. considered the iie.iten.int a discredited witness. The evidence of AVheatley's possession of the revolver rested on his tc-stimony.
