WELLINGTON BOWLING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING. Mr. Edwin Moult (pres'dent) occupied the chair at the annual meeting of the Wellington Bowling Club held at tho club's pavilion last' evening. In formally moving tho adoption of the report, the president congratulated the club on its financial position. Mr. I. Salek, the treasurer, in speaking of the said that lie had hoped to be able to announce the wiping out of the overdraft, but though he had collected; all tho odd pennies, there siill remained an overdraft of £1 Is. lOd. He was also pleased to announce that only sis subscriptions remain unpaid. One of those was that of a member who had gone to the front) which he thought the club would agree to wipe out. (Hear, hear.) He also pointed out that though the revenue of the club wai a large one, the expenditure was also large. The top green was costing the club at least £50 a year, and he did not think they had 50s. worth of use out of it. Mr. Salek thought that several improve-' ments in the management of the club were necessary. One improvement was with reference to the frequent use of the over greens by the Wellington Centre, in which, connection. he pointed out that during last Easter onlv one rink was left for the use of members. Air. J. J. Roberts (secretary of the Centre) stated that the Centre had nover infringed its rights regarding the use of the greens. Mr. W. J. Thompson said that the opinions expressed by Mr. Salek were personal, not those of the directors. Mr. J. D. Sievwright said he endorsed the remarks made by the treasurer in regard to the gentlemen who liad guaranteed the club's overdraft. He also pointed out that no provision had been made for any honorariums to the treasurer. He knew Mr. Salek would not accept anything, but in the case of Mr. Hyams (the secretary) he thought there should be a fixed honorarium of twelve or fifteen guineas for the secretary. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows President, Mr. L. Ledger (unopposed) ; vice-president, Mr. W. Berry; non. treasurer, Mr. I. Salek; secretary, Mr. I. Hyams: directors, Messrs. A. Wylie, S. S. Williams, S. Campbell, W. J. Thompson, and A. Erskine; auditor, Mr. E. Liddle (re-elected). The prizes won during the past season were presented to the -winners by the president. Mr. J. D. Sievwright moved; —"That country members' annual subscription be two guineas, and that -unless they declare themselves for the Wellington Bowling Club at the beginning of the season, they be ineligible for inter-club matches and club competitions promoted by the Wellington Bowling Club." The mover asked leave of the club to alter his motion from two one and a half guineas, which -was objected to. After some discussion the motion was lest.

3lr. Siovwright moved that the fees of Mr. F. Ashbolt for last year and whilst 011 active service be waived, and that notice of the same be forwarded to Mr. Ashbolt. It was only right that they should act in that manner towards one of their members who was fighting for the Empire. The motion was carried with enthusiasm.

My family is large and cough mixture being often wanted an ordinary sized bottle quickly goes. When 1 heard of making a large bottle at home by using Hean's Essence I soon tried it, and the result has much pleased me. A bottle of Hean's Essence gives me a very big bottle for very little money and has proved a better remedy for sore throats, colds and coughs than I ■ have had before."
