GERMAN SOCIALIST PAPER SUPPRESSED

By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright; mi [. , Amsterdam, June 27. ine Aorth German Gazette." in announcing the suppression of the "A rorjvaerts" for publishing the Socialist loaders manifesto, says: "The manifesto shows hoy the German Socialists havo done their duty in. the fight for Germany's national independence, and how the great masses of Socialists in England and France, belonging to the International Union, dccided to continue the war hand in hand with their Governments, and united to complete the conquest of Germany. "Notwithstanding this statement, the Socialist leaders invite the Government, thereby making known their own war aims, to announce, on the ground of a favourable war situation which our compatriots' bravery has created, a willingness to enter into peace negotiations in order to terminate the sanguinary fighting. "The manifesto, appearing despite the censorship forbidding discussion" on tho war, aims at and is calculated to create a highly undesirable impression abroad; and also, probably, on a majority of German Socialists. It will possibly be interpreted abroad as wiir- . weariness, which does not exist." The "Gazette" adds: "If the progress of military events and the political situation offer prospects of successful peace deliberations, tho German Government on its own accord will do what is necessary. Till then there can only be one watchword for Germany—'Hold out.'"
