Cracow has seen many vicissitudes of fortune. It was destroyed bv the Mongols in 12-11. rebuilt by German immigrants in 1207, but again sacked by the jfongols in 1260 and 1281. It was then seized by the lloheniians, who held it till 1303. It was finally recovered by the famous Polish King. Wlndislaw. who chose it as his capital in 1320. and. although Warsaw became the capital of Poland in IGIO.
