STATEMENT BY THE VICEROY Delhi, March 26. \ Concluding the financial debate in:/ the Indian Legislative Council, the Viceroy (Lord Hardinge) said: "The' Finance Minister's review shows con-' vincingly the inherent soundness and; strength of the Indian financial position. ! The country has undertaken heavy financial responsibilities, but after eight; montlis of war these have been fully j discharged, and it is prepared 'to meefcj further burdens, Thero is every sign; of an unusually largo surplus being' available for export." , \ Referring to his recent visit to tha, Persian Gulf, the Viceroy stated that the province of Basra possessed inwj niense potentialities.
