KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL
At last night's meeting of the Karori Borough Council, the Mayor (Mr. W. T. Hildreth) presided, and thero were also present: Councillors B. G. Burn, I P. C. Jordan, J. W. Henderson, A. Hamilton, L. P. Davies, and W. Skegg. Referring to, the matter of the revised tramway' time-table, the Town Clerk, Wellington, wrote to say that the City Council had agreed to the charge for stand-over time being reduced from 6tl. to 4a. per car. The letter was received. The Borough Engineer reported that on Thursday/March 18, Captain Thring, of the Defence Department, inspected the two sites for rifle ranges in the borough, expressed satisfaction with them, and stated that ho would report accordingly to headquarters at Palmcrston North. On the subject of street nameplates, the engineer recommended that if the purchase of name-plates were-de-cided upon, about 50 be secured at a cost of 2s. 9d. each. They would bo of enamel and would require to be repainted about every three years. Repairs, to the tram track had proceeded slowly, owing to bad weather. The work had been completed from the points near Burrows Cutting to Hatton Street.
