NATIONAL PROVIDENT FUND
L no ,,°f the most progressive Statecontrolled institutions iu the ■ Dominion is the Government National Provident l'tmd, which was established in 1911 to give to the people of this country benefits on child-birth, incapacity, old-age, and also substantial help to widows with children under fourteen years of age. The conditions of membership are exceedingly liberal, allowing a long period for payment of arrears of contributions and a refund of moneys paid into the fund is made, less any benefits received. The fund is a powerful factor in encouraging thrift, as the small weekly contributions, which are not missed, very soon accumulate to a good sum. The membership of the fund is increasing largely every year, and many contributors .have already secured the £6' payable on the birth of a child. The Department is located oil the secoiid floor of the Dank of New Zealand Buildings at the corner of Manners and Cuba Streets, the entrance to the lift being in the former street. The public is invited to call at tho office there and obtain fuller particulars. Special hours of business to suit workers have been arranged.
