THE ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of tho Soiiety foi tho Prevention of Cruelty w Animals was held yesterday afternoon, Mr. V. E. Meredith presiding. The ihspector reported on various cases of alleged cruelty to animals. He had warned a dairyman with regard to over-driving a cow and calf, Tn a caso -where several sheep had been bogged in the Makara County, he had spoken to the owner, who appeared very indifferent. About ten sheep had died through being bogged, and through injuries' received from barb-wire fences. Many people had complained, but would iiot come forward as witnesses in a case against the owner. In Willis Street' ho had a Maori hen released from a cage, where it was knocking -itself about. The bank balance stood at £9 17s. 2d. It was decided to hold the next meeting on April 20.
