Since the recent public meeting £1000 monthly has: been promised to the Belgian Fund, exclusive of £7000 in straight-out donations. Organised collections are proceeding. The Belgian Consul has cabled , Sii Timothy Coghlan a further £40,000, including £23,357 Government subsidy. The total remitted is £184,000; Concerning the uneasiness in the public mind regarding the destination of subscriptions the Consul stated that the money goes direct to the Belgian Ambassador in London. He has been amply assured that_ tho money is strictly used for tho relief of the Belgians in Belgium.
