In- the annual feport of the Mirar mar Golf Club, the committee congratulates members upon the fact that the club has been ahle to .'enter into an agreement for the purchase of the links, and points out that undoubtedly the ' most duty devolving on the . incoming committee will ibe ' that of icarefully safeguarding the members and the debenture-holders by seeing that tho best possible result is obtained from the heavy expenditure which will be made upon the links and buildings. lie' work of clearing the new land was commenced on February 1, and' full plans for a new; club house will be submitted to members , for their consideration at the annual meeting. • The year's working resulted in a surplus of £206 Bs. 2d., after charging depreciation ion buildings, plant,, etc., and slso all the preliminary expenses in connection- with the purchase lof the links. There has also been charged against the .year's revenue/ the interest paid to debenture-holders to January 31. ■ The item of sundry purchases in connection with '.he maintenance of the links is larger than usual, which is accounted for by the fact that the cost of, ■ repairing the fences' -before the .sheep were . put on (nearly £40) was charged to this account. As a result of this-ex-penditure the wages for the year showed a decrease of £88' I4s. 3d. It ,i B satisfactory to note that the revenue of the luncheon and tea room has been sufficient to meet all expenses in connection therewith. The balance-sheet discloses a surplus of assots over liaklities of £417 lis. Sd, after making a full allowance for depreciation of assets. 'After paying the deposit on account of 1 ; the laud purchase (£1000), the club had £900 on deposit at call and £142 18s. 9d at credit at the bank. The thanks of the club are duo to his Excellency the Governor, Lord Liverpool;' for a donation to the club's funds, and to Mr. George Huma, of Featherston, who during the- season made the club a present of a useful and valuable J draught horse, a most generous gift which was greatly appreciated by"' the committee. Tropaies for competition wre presented by Messrs. H. S. Hislon ana u. F. M'Cabe. Tho usual annual inter-club matches Were played with Wellington, Hutt, and combined Wairarap.i Golf. Clubs. Tho club championship was won-by Mr. M ,W. Horton. In the Ladies' 'Club' the championship was ' won by ' Mrs. R. p ■Ward, and the junior championship by 1 Miss Cameron. At the special meeting in December it was unanimously resolved on tlie recommendation of the committee that the following ladies and gentlemer. be'elected life members of the club. Mr. A. D. Crawford, Mrs. A. D. Crawford, Mrd. H. D. Crawford, and Mr. James C. Crawford. ; The resolution was an expression of the members' appreciation of the facilities accorded to the club by the' owners of tho links during the club's'first few years at Miramar.
