SUMMARY AND FORECAST Present Indications axe for stronj but decreasing southerly -winds, changing again shortly to freshening northerlies and westerlies. Weather changeable,. with scattered showers. A temporary improvement may be expected, but. increasing cloudiness and another westerly disturbance is likely to follow in from 24 to 36 hours, the barometer rising temporarily in the south in the meantime. The barometer has risen rapidly in tlio south, with south-westerly winds, strong to gale, in many parts. The weather has Been cold and 6tonny in the southern; districts, and much rain lias fallen in Westland and Otago, but fair to cloudy conditions have ruled elsewhere. D, 0. BATES.
