HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. | . Soveral novel features will be iritro-' duced by the Fuller-Brcimwi manage ■ ment into, the'now programme at His Majesty's Theatre to-night, tho most noteworthy being Herman and Shirley, wlio will present an acrobatic sketch, "The Mysterious Masqueradors," in which Mr. Herman, is said to show extraordinary skill as a contortionist. An interesting reappearance will be that of Miss Carrie Moore, the popular AngloAustralian musical comedy actress; who will appear in all new numbers, and will also produce, for tho first time on any stage, a Japanese tabloid opera, written and composed by herself, for which special scenery has been painted. Brown and Sorli9, a pair of coloured comedians', well-known, to Wellington vaudeville patrons, will submit entirely new numbers. Ywaxy, the dancing violinist, introduoes new violin specialties. Maralde and Elvira, tho' talented Spanish dancers, will appear .for' the last time. The l Magpies Costume Comedy Company will contribute the whole of the first portion of the programme, and all their numbers .will be quite new. Mr. Lou Vernon will recite that remarkable patriotic poem, "The Day." Tho same programme will be repeated nightly throughout the week, and the usual matinee will be given on Saturday. . KING'S THEATRE. The King's Theatre programme of this evening will be headed by a striking dramatic film, entitled "Home, Sweet Home." The photoplay shows John Howard Payne, the author of tho'famous song, "Home, Sweet. .Home," as he loft his home at Long Island to go upon the stage. He succeeds for a time, but later fails, and is imprisoned for debt. He goes to England and writes plays, but is forced to sell them all for a trifle. Ho is .then shown at the height of his "success. in his love affair with the widow of- the poet Shelley. Many other scenes from the famous American's life are shown, including his death at Tunice, while American Consul. Then little scenes from.life are given to show how Payne has not died, Dut lives and 'does tremendous good through the strains of this world-wide song, "Home, Sweet Home." The first is entitled "Apple-pie Mary," a Western love 1 story; the second, the story of a young wife's temptation; the third, of a woman rendered insa'ne ■by a great tragedy, lod back to reason by "Home, Sweet Home." The supporting- films are of-a good character. EVERYBODY'S PICTURES. Tho new programme to be screened at Everybody's Theatre to-day at noon contains the very latest in the picture world. The star feature will be "The Land of Shadows," a realisation of the love story of a scientist.' ' A splendid glimpse of England's "bulldogs," the men that never sleep, is given in Hepworth's fine study, "Our First Line of Defence." By the last American mail direct from the seat of war comes the "Evacuations of Ghent and Ostend," which shows incidents of the Allied armies' doings in Belgium, particularly relating to tho bluejacketed heroes. "The Kiss", is a fine dramatic record. "She Made Herself Beautiful" and "Substitute for Pants" axe two pictures full of merriment, while "Pathe's War Gazette" gives the latest war happenings. A select orchestra afternoon and night will play appropriate items to each picture. PEOPLE'S PICTURE PALACE. . The "star" item at the People's Picture Palace to : day will bo a grand film production, entitled'"At the Mercy of Niagara," showing the thrilling sight, that of a barrel containing a woman, shooting over" the great-Horse Shoe Fall. 'Die principals are two college chums,; one is studious and becomes a doctor, but the other inclined to,wild living, and joins a gang of- opium smugglers. The doctor subsequently finds himself, while on professional business, iii a gambling don, frequented by his old chum. There is a raid, and the scapegrace shoots : a policeman, but accuses the doctor, and ■ the latter Is sentenced to imprisonment. He escapes, and later sots out to bring the Teal murderer to trial. ' k pretty' lovo story is introduced, 'and the heroine is mixed 'up in the many adventures, and is sont over tho Falls in a barrel. She is finally rescued, and all ends well.

THEATRE. At the New Theatre, in addition to the attraction, . "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," the programme is particularly strong in' dramatio subjects. In "A Woman s Honour," the plot is graphically and powerfully developed. "The Mask of the Black Domino", is a keen. and clear-cut photo-play. Tomorrow ' will' see! a: complete/change' of the principal- features underlined' being two exclusive war pictures, a beautiful Nestor domestio drama, entitled "Western Hearts," and a vivid mystery photo-play,' featuring the celebrated American dotective King. THE EMPRESS THEATRE. "The Animated History of the War to Date," a special film, 3400 feet in length, depicting hundreds of - actual incidents in connection with the .'war, will be the, principal attraction of the new programme to be - introduced at the Empress Theatre continuous pictures to-day and to-night. The picture shows scenes of troops in action, scenes after the battles, devastation by the Germans, refugees' being fed. the wotmded_ being treated, hospital trains dlivering the wounded, armoured motor-cars hunting Uhlans, Belgians destroying their own bridges to hamper the Germans, Belgian dog-drawn machine guns; and 'men, refugees at Ostend, women' feeding hungry troops, Maline's famous;cathedral damaged by shell-fire, troops in'the trenches, barbed wire entanglements, ' General de Witte's (Belgian) army retreating, aeroplanes at work, London motor-bus squadron near' the front'"'b"ri'nging food and amunition - up to the . firing-line by motors, on the Dutch frontier examining passports. . .There! will;be another production from _ the. front, ontitled "Down With the Huiis" (Eclair war special, No. 6), and special' supporting films. . ' / "BUNTY BULLS THE STRINGS." "Bunty Pulls the Strings" will be played for three nights only, at the Grand Opera House, commencing , on Wednesday evening next. These perform ances will bring to a clfise the company's very successful tour of the, Dominion. The company leaves for Tasmania ■on Saturday afternoon next by the Warrimoo.
