RUGBY FOOTBALL OTAGO'S NORTHERN TOUR. fßy Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dur.edin, August 31. At a meeting "of' the Otago Rugby Union to-night Mr. H. White expresse'l the opinion that it was not a time to send a team away on tour merely for the sake of keeping engagements with the. 'northern provinces. Ho moved that the northern tour be cancelled, but the general opinion was tliat the matter had gone too far to take that course, and the non-playing of the interprovincial fixtures would not improve the position. The motion was lost. The following is the. team chosen for the northern tour:—Backs: Watson, Whittaker, Marks, Fortune, Denham, Hanna, Dryden, Andrews, F. Williams. Forwards: P. Williams (capt.), Duncan, Mowatt, Kennelly, Patterson, Davidson, Irvine, Atkinson, Graham, Brown, Douglas. LAWN TENNIS THE BROUGHAM HILL CLUB. The fifteenth annual report of the Brougham Hill Tennis Club statos that the membership for tho past season was maintained at full strength. In the inter-club contests the club holds the following championships:—Men's competition: Senior, Junior, Third Class. Ladies' competition: Junior, Third Class.

The following .are the results of the various club competitions, viz.: —Men's Championship Singles, Mr. E. Peeves; Men's Championship Doubles, Messrs. Girling-Butcher and Reeves; Ladies' Championship Singles, Miss Davis; Ladies' Championship Doubles, Misses Davis and Archer; Combined Championship Doubles, Mrs. Goldie and Mr. Gir-liiif-Butcher; Men's Handicap Singles, Mr? J. A. B. Howe; Men's Handicap Doubles, Messrs. Kean and Morison; Ladies' Handicap Singles, Miss Howe; Ladies' Handicap Doubles, Misses I. and E. Stevens; Combined Handicap Doubles, Mrs. W. E. Howe and Mr. HV Howe. Yankee Tournaments: Miss Davis, Miss Mack, Miss I. Stevens, Mr. Girling-Butcher, 'Mr. E. Edwards, and Mr. E. Beeves. Club members were also successful in the following tournaments:—At Marten,-Mr. H. B. Mori-. son won the Handicap Singles and Mr. H V Howe second prize Championship Singles. At Hastings, Mr. H. C. Sim woii the Handicap Singles. At Master-,, ton, Messrs. Girling-Butcher and Reeve;! won the Handicap Doubles. At Hqkianga, Mr. G. Grace won second prize in Championship Singles. At Wellington Easter Tournament, Mr. E. Edwards won the Handicap Singles; Mr. h. idwards and Mrs. W. E. Howe won tho Combined Handicap Doubles; Messrs. Sim and Reeves won the Handicap Doubles; Mrs. W. K Howe second prize Handicap Doubles: Mr. J. A. H. Howe, second prize Handicap Doubles Tho committee thanks the Hon. J. G. AV. Aitkeu for donation and Mr. \V. N. Tucker for trophy. ■
