After sanguinary bayonet encounters the' Servians', passing over the enemy's dead, seized posi-" tions dominating Shabatz. The Austnans evacuated the town, and the Servians, on entering, found that all the prisoners had teen massacred with' incredible savagery. TVio battlefiold of Jadar was heaped with Austrian dead, and 660 were buried in a common grave.
