T _ MOTOR CAR ON FIRE. ' '" ■. DRIVER JUMPS FOR SAFETY. ; A most unusual accident occurred td a motor-car driver named Louis Wixon, $ living in Pipitea. Street, late yesterday afternoon. Ho was coming' in. from Petone, and when about a mile from Ngahauranga he leant over from: his seat- and struck a match on'the ~ front portion of the car. The flamei from the match somehow ignited the benzine in tho car, which was travelling at about" 20 miles an hour, and the machine burst into flame. ■: . Frightened by the flaming vehicle, and acting on the impulse of the>mo-< ment apparently, Wixon jumped from the car, and fell on tho road,i where he lay. It is understood that the car eventually collided/ with an obstacle, and was reduced to cinders. Wixon ■was conveyed by the ambulance to thoHospital, where he was found to be' ■suering from a wound on the head.- .

He, had a miraculous escape from • serious injury, as his fall to. the ground was broken by some telegraph wires causing him to fall to the ground on. his feet. Ho was sybtonded.by Dr. Tolhurst,' and removed to v his home, suffering only from a sprained ankle. .
