Robert Davis, a married man, who had been drinking heavily, whoso domestic Jife was not happy, and who previously had attempted suicide, threw himself under a train closo'.to Taumarunui on Saturday night, and was killed instantaneously. . A verdict of suicide while temporarily ■ insane was returned at the inquest. FATAL SEQUEL TO MOTOR- ACCIDENT. Christchuroh, August 3. Mr.< R. Blunden, who was injured In the motor accident, near Springbank railway station., oh Saturday evening last, collapsed, and died suddenly oi heart failure at 11.30' a.m. to-day.'' Mr. Blunden was 64 years of age. ' ' LABOURER DROWNED. _■■•; ;;;Core, August 3/:' James Ewart, aged 23, a' farm labourer, of Waikaka'Valley, was drowned lbs afternoon white attempting to cross a stream 1 with.-a horse.- A con>panion refused to cross the stream with him, and Ewart had almost reached the other bank when' he appeared to pull the horse back'into.the stream,again. He could not swim, and his companion failed to rescue him. 'It: is believed that deceased has a brother in Ashburton. * .•;. '.•••■ ' _ A BROKEN LEG. ' As a result of anaccideht in Robertson's Foundry at 3.30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, a married man named t Walter Wajeach, aged 33 years, broke his, right leg. Just how the accident happened is not known, out when the injured man had received medical attention he was removed to tho Hospital.
