WILL BRITAIN FIGHT?
EMPIRE IN SUSPENSE. CANADA'S OFFER OF MEN ACCEPTED* -GERMAN REVERSE. RUMOURED BATTLE ON THE FRENCH FRONTIER. AUSTRIANS HELD IN CHECK. Tho war news this morning fe meagre, and this is no doubt duo to the censorship of cables and telegraphs. The one definite item is that Germany has violated tho neutrality of Luxembourg, and this information has apparently forced the British Cabinet (into a decision which will be known throughout the Empire today. Will Britain fight? is the question of the moment, and although powerful influences are at work to endeavour to get Bri- ' tain to remain neutral, the indications are that she will take the fateful step. Germany has not,- according to The Times, been as frank as sh% might have been. The fact that the British Cabinet has decided to ask for a defence credit, and that its plans are comprehensive, is perhaps additional proof that Britain will fight. The news that Canada's offer of an expeditionary iorce has been accepted, and'that the Commonwealth has offered a force 20,000 , strong, will be received with enthusiasm throughout the Empire. To-day will probably be the most'important day in the history of tho'British Empire.
