—o . LITTLE GIRL KILLED. ItUN OVER BY A TIMBER TRUCK. (By Telegraph.— Association.) Creymouth, August 2. A sad fatality occurred at Patara on Saturday whereby, a little girl, about 9. years of age, lost hor life. Her father, Adam Blair, jun.,_of iilairs' Sawmill, Stafford, was hauling logs to the mill by a locomotive and trucks. FARMER DIES FROM SHOT . WOUND.'

Hamilton, August 1. A farmer named Haymau Jjllmers, aged forty, residing at Marokopa, accirientally shot himself in the" arm on July. 30. He was taken to the Waikaro Hospital, but died-last night. Ho picked it up by the barrel, which discharged, tho shot entering "and shattering the wrist. Ellmers travelled through - the bush ail next day arriving at the Waikato Hospital on Friday night. After tho operation blood was noticed oozing through tho stitches. The wound was unstitched and the patient collapsed. Restoratives were applied but he died a few minutes later. Dr. Douglas operated, Dr. Cameron administering tho anaesthetic. Dr. Douglas stated tliat death was*duo to shock from the wound, shock from the operation, and shock from tlio ar,aesthetic.

DEATH. FROM BURNS. Dunedin, August 2. A man named Hugh Macarthur, a ship s carpenter, aged 48 years, died at 1 p.m. to-day as tno result of .severe burns sustained on Saturday evening through H s bed'catehing-fire. Deceased had lie relatives in New Zealand so far a 5 is known, but is believed to have a wife and family residing in Scotland. He was a native of Govaii, Scotland. FOOTBALLER'S ANKLE BROKEN. While "playing football for Wellington against i'oueke at Athletic\ Park on Saturday afternoon, 'M'Taggart, Poneke's fast three-quarter, had his .left ankle broken.
