. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE! ';' (By Telegraph—Press- Association.) ■ . • Thames, July .31. A young man named Alfred Langford,- aged 30, attempted to commit suicide in a hotel this-morning by taking a weak solution of cyanide pofcasium. His parents reside in the : Old Country. Ho had been out of work for some time', and seemed strange' in manner, last night. He threatened to commit suicide and was. reproved by the' hotelkeeper,; who advised him .to seek'work. He-was found in bed this morning in a semi-conscious condition,and was sent to the hospital.. His condition is serious, but there is every chance of recovery. . ; At the Petone Railway "Workshops yesterday, a boiler-maker's apprentice named ..Shanaha.n injured his kneo by falling upon some channel bars.
