HOLIDAY FARES
ON THE CITY TRAM CARS. Councillor Fuller is opposed to the charge of double fares on the tramways on holidays. At last nightV meeting of the City Council lie moved: no double fares be charged on tho trams on Good Friday and- Christmas^ Day. "I will not talk," said Councillor Fuller, "about the nico little boycott organised by some of the members Voices: Oil 1 Tbo Mayor: "I must ask you to withdraw that, Councillor Fuller." . Councillor Fuller : • "I withdraw it. Oh, yes, I withdraw it." In advocacy of his proposal, Councillor Fuller said that charging double fares only kept tho people from patronisinjx tho cars. On one occasion when double fares wero charged tho return was £375, and when single fares wero charged tho return was £357, showing that doublo the people went on the trams when singlo fares wero charged. Tho Mayor: "Does anyone second tho proposal ?—No seconder. The motion is lost." ■
