SOME OF THE CHARCES'DOUBLED. i 'At last night's ■ meeting ■of the City ' Council the Reserves Committee pre-sented-a'report' dealing • with' proposed ■charges for reserves for-winter sports, f/fter fully- considering the matter,'-stud ■ilie committee, they were strongly of (opinion that the council should malco \:the following alterations in tho charges : h : -; Rugby, football, Association football, f;£eaguo football, hockey, lacrosse—Prei sent charge, £5 55.; proposed charge, ,'£lo 10s.; comparative charges—Auckland, ,£ll 55.; Petone, 50 per cent, of takings (net). The abovo for one i ground per season, and one day's pl.iy > per -Week. Tor two days' play per weals itho charge will be £21 per' ground' por '/season. Kilbirnio Reserve (one ground only): Football Association until 3 p.m.; Hoc- ■ key Association from 3 p.m. The Proposals Carried. : : Councillor Frost, chairman of the Reserves Committee, in moving the adopi;tion/of the recommendation, said that i; the. proposed increased charges would , still bo below what was charged in r other centres. The charges would be ! very reasonable. The expenditure <m - reserves: in-Auckland was about tho samo as 'iii Wellingtonj but, in Auckland, they received something like £3000 , in revenue, while, in Wellington, they only received £900. This indicated ■ they did not get. a sufficient return from tlleir playing reserves.. Councillor Fuller thought that the ; matter should be held over for a week, ; so that - councillors might have an op- ■ portunity of considering .the charges.
