THE DESPOILERS OF PERE-LA-CHAISE. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright Paris, April 1. In connection with tho arrests reported yesterday, thirty-six keepers at Pore-la-Chaise for many weeks made night-time searches,, with tho purpose of detecting tho dcspoilers who had been tit work dosccrating the tombs and appropriating valuables from tho coffins, but their •'efforts were'fruitless. Detectives were then posted in wine stops in tho vicinity, and they overheard tho conversation of two • of tlio gang. One was followed, and was seen making chalk marks to certain tombs. Subsequently, when an attempt was made to open these tombs three men and a woman were arrested.
