PALL DOWN LIFT
Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M. (Coroner), held an inquest at the Hospital yesterday regarding the death of George Hope, a Harbour Board storeman, who died on Saturday as tho result of injuries received in an accident in the bonded store on. the wharf. Senior-Ser-geant Dew represented the police, Mr. C. H. Treadwell appeared for the Standard Insuranco Company (insurers for tho Harbour Board); and Mr. C. H. Ixard watched proceedings on behalf of the board.
Dr. H.. Hardwick Smith, medical superintendent of the Hospital, said that deceased was unconscious when admitted to the institution. Death was due to fracture of tho skull and injury to the brain.
Mrs. Jeannip Page, sister of deceased, stated that hor brother's age would be about 49 years. He was a native of Dunedin.
Harold O'Brien, Harbour Boar'd employee, said that on Thursday last lie ami deceased were loading tobacco from a lift to a trolly in the bonded store. AVhilst deceased was turning over a case of tobacco, he slipped from tho lift and fell forword into tho well, a distance of 12 to 15 feet.
The Coroner returned a verdict to the effect that deceased diod from injuries accidontally received,, no blame being attachable to anyone
