TARANAKI OIL WELLS THE ALLEGED FLOODING. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Now Plymouth, March 28. At the uniulal meeting of the Taranaki Oil and Freehold Co. lust night a resolution was carried deploring the action of the directorate of the Blcnhoim Company in organising a doputation to the Minister of Mines unknown to other companies and making a statement, considered by the meeting to be unwarranted, about the flooding of the field, thus causing loss to many shareholders in the Taranaki Oil Wells, Ltd. Sympathy was also expressed with the Advisory Board of the latter company. ANOTHER SPEECH BY MR. WEBB. Creymouth, March 28. Mr. Webb, M.P., speaking at Dunol* lie, amplified his remarks anent. the Liberal Party. He said no attempt had beon made to secure an alliance between the Social Democrats and the Liberals. Ho fully expected to havo a Liberal oppose him. Where no Social Democrat etood ho expected Labour to voto with the Liberal as aguinst the Reform candidate. Ho emphasised tho desirability of perfecting Social Democrat organisations, as that party lay the best hopo of achieving the aims and aspirations of tho labouring class, and ho beliovcd it should retain its separato entity, opposing any alliance with any other party whatsoever.

OPUNAKE RAILWAY. Hawera, March 28. Tlie Hawera Chamber, of Commerce last night passed a resolution protesting against tlio action of the Government in departing from the route of tlio Opunake railway unanimously recommended by a special Commission. The Chamber pointed out that the routo decided on by tlio Government would deprive tlio railway of a considerable portion of revenue.
