FINE GIFT TO CHRI'STCHTJRCH. (Br IW«sr»pl\.—Praai Association.! Chrislchurch, Match 26. The well-known Deans Busli at Riccarton, the last remnant of. the original bush which covered tho country in that locality, has been presented to the. city by the Deans family. The bush couprises an area of sixteen acres, and contains a very fine collection of native trees and shrubs, all growing naturally. The following conditions, attaching to tlie gift, are laid down:—(1) That "the bush be known as the Riccarton Bush, and bo kept for all timo for tho preservation of native trees and plants. (2)' That it be vested in and controlled by a board of fivo members, two of whom shall bo nominated by the City Council, two by the Deanß family, and one by the Philosophical Institute of Canterbury. (3) That entrance be i'reo to all subject to necessary restrictions and regulations made by the board. (4) That provision be made for the upkeep of tho bush, such provision to be not less than £100 per annum, and to bo of a permanent nature and not subject to the annual voto of tho City Council. (5) That the City Council take tho earliest opportunity of securing tho necessary authority from Parliament for carrying out the above provisions.
