PARAPARA IRONWORKS.

Sir,—This iron puzzle has now been going on for a quarter of a century, and judging, by the Government jtcforni policy, it'still looks likely to go on for another quarter of a century. It was quite obvious, under the selfdubbed Liberal Government, that influences wora at work somewhere by which the clauses of manning all leases were evaded, and repeated extension of time granted, in order to enable speculators to trade off the Dominion's assets to company promoters at a good fat profit to themselves. The Reform Government repeatedly stated that they were dissatisfied with the Liberal Administration—not their measures—yet the same system of allowing speculators to gamble with these iron leases is in evidence. The Mining Act was especially drawn to insist on all leases being bona fide worked, arid if the ground is Uot fully manned the wardens have no power to grant extension of time without Ministerial authority; yet the Government (Reform) says they are powerless. They are not powerless. They can remove the warden from office for not compelling the company to man the ground. The responsibility rests with the present Government, and if there is any more of this shilly-shally and shuffling, we are going to voto for a Labour member next election. —I am, etc., FULL UP.
