INCOME TAX BILL.

Government's' Income Tax Bill, forecasted at the opening of the State Parliament, has been introduced in tho Assembly, and read a first time. . /The Bill reduces tho limit of exemption to £250, and increases the rates to Is, in tho'£ on the incomes of all companies; where the taxable income of a person does not exceed £700, Bd.; an additional third of Bd-. is levied on income derived from the purchaso of property. Tho rates are .graduated to Is. 2d., with an additional third for incomes over £9700.
Mr. Hoylo stated that it was intended to place the Income Tax Commissioner beyond tho control of the Public Service- Board, and vemovablo only by the Government. Itinerant professionals, including singers and boxers, will be required to pay a tax on salaries earned hero. The reason of the increased taxation was the increasedexpenso of Government. : '
Tho Opposition strongly attacked tho Government's extravagance.
