According to the "Wai&ata Argus," the Government lias decided, at the request of the _ Maoris interested,, to put in a flag station, to be called fiuakunwana. The Natives have given the necessary land, and subscribed .£llO towards the cost, besides making a road, which they have undertaken to keep in order. On Saturday the first sod was turned by Keritake To Ahu, in tho presence of a msm-. ber of Natives and several pakehas. Ho addressed them at some length, ami =iiid he was glad the Government had consented to the wishes of the petitioners, particularly mentioning the Hon. \v. H. Hemes for what he had done.
