THE CONGRESS OPENS TO-DAY.
I The second National Congress of the [Salvation Army commences to-day, I when, about 400 officers from all over I New Zealand will be welcomed by Commissioner Richards at the Citadel, Vivian ' Street. ' To-iao-rrow two of the leading Army bands—the Dtmediu and Feilding Bands—are to arrive, here, and they .will bo welcomed by the Array massed bauds of the city, Newtown, and. Petone. . The five bands afo to irarado in the streets hi the afternoon, and, in the evening, in conjunction with the songsters' brigades, they will give a, musical, demonstration. .'On Sunday there is to bo a scries of public meet* iugs. ._ The Coniinisskmer will conduct a Service ift the Citadel in the morning, and, granting ipv weather, an open air demonstration will be held at tire Basin' Reserve in the afternoon. la the evening another demonstration will be. held in His Majesty's ' Theatre. A children's display, in 'which the chi}dreii from the litlian) Roys' Home and the local ■ ClriMrmt's Home will take Bart, is to he held in the Citadel on Monday evening.
