FIRE IN WAKEFIELD STREET
BUSINESS STOCKS;SUFFER.,. ■ A firo broke out in tlio first floor of Messrs. Laory and Company's buildings in Wakcfield Street shortly beforo 7 o'clo«k last evening. . About £200 damage was done to tho building, bosides damage to stock belonging to the oiKupicrS'Of tho first and second floors. Tho building is a three-story one, of brick, and, beyond damage to tho ceilings and tho match-lining, it was not much affected. Tho first floor is occupied by Messrs. Pickering and Abel, cap manufacturers, and tho stock and plant, which wore 'badly damaged', arc - insured for , £6oo in the London and Lancashire Office. - Tho top floor,is occupied by Messrs. Haydoni and Lubrariski, clothing manufacturers.- Their stock and plant, which was slightly damaged by smoke, fire, and water, aro insured in tho Royal Office for £400. Some machinery on the ground floor was also slightly damaged by water-
