ENCOURAGE THE GRADE COW.

Some of tlio breeders of purebred Idairycattlo liavo strange notions, it eeoms to us, about acknowledging the existence of tho grado cow, says board's "Dairyman." They seem to bo afraid of something tliafc will riso up to plaguo tho purebred. This '.'spooky." notion, we believe, lias no real foundation. Oil tho contrary, wo would liko to see every encouragement given to tlio production of first class grade cows in all the dairy breeds. To produce such cows the farmer must liavo a purebred sire.' Ho must liaye, also, a right idea of tlio /;reat importance of securing a bull of tho strongest and best blood lines.

The great call that exists to-day for grade cows for commercial dairying rests upon tho use of tho registered sire. To cncourago tho sale of such sires we must cncourago tlio production of first class grade cows. ,\Vo can seo no escape from this logic.
