Sir George Newman, chief medical officer of the Education Board, reports that of six million school children examined. 10 per cent, possessed defective eyesight, 2 per cent, defective hearing, 2 per ccnt. suppurating ears, 10 .per cent, adenoids, 1 psr cent, ringworm, 1 per cent, tuberculosis, 35 per cent, heart disease, and over 50 per cent, rcnuiring a dentist. ITnlf a million were physically undermined owing to malnutrition.
