Mr. (i. M. Chapman, M.R.C.S., a son of His Honour Mr. Justico Chapman, of Now Zealand, who recently gained his M.B, at Cambridge, has been appointed rccciying-room officer at the London Hospital." ' Mr. and Mrs. John Hessoy, of Masterton, have been since October 4 in Italy, staying in a villa overlooking tho Bay

October, tho Diploma of Merit of the Institute of British Tailoring and a ibronxe'badge for special proficiency in'designing and cut-ting at- the repent students' examinations held by that body. He arrived in August, and will pffihablv renin in here for 12 months. The Hew 11. Stubbs, who has been spending the summer holidays in England, returned to New Zealand on November 5 via tho West Indian Islands, the Southern States of America, the Sandwich Islands, and Fiii, and hopes to reach New Zealand in November, 191-1. Ue proposes publishing some account of his travels, and tabes a camera with him.
A party of . eight English people, who do not, ,ut present wish their names made public, leave by tho P, and 0. line for New Zealand this-month, taking with them their motor-cars, cbavitfeurs, and several other servants, and making ■their first stop at Auckland. If they like tbe country, they intend to spend two years in hunting, spa and freshwater fishing, camping, shooting, and deer stalkinc.
Mr. AT. Af'lntosb, of Auckland, after six weeks in London, joined l)r. and Mrs. Hope Lewis, of Auckland, in a motor tour of' Scotland. Ireland, Wales, and tho AYest of England, after which he travelled for si*; weeks in Holland, Gr-nany, and Belgium. He has also paid visits to-relatives in England, and intends to travel through France, Switzerland, and Italy during tlio, winter, returning to New Zealand by the Orsov* on February 21. '
